20:6人多述说自己的仁慈。但忠信人谁能遇着呢。
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
20:7行为纯正的义人,他的子孙,是有福的。
The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him。
20:8王坐在审判的位上,以眼目驱散诸恶。
A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes。
20:9谁能说,我洁净了我的心。我脱净了我的罪。
Who can say; I have made my heart clean; I am pure from my sin?
20:10两样的法码,两样的升斗,都为耶和华所憎恶。
Divers weights; and divers measures; both of them are alike abomination to the LORD。
20:11孩童的动作,是清洁,是正直,都显明他的本性。
Even a child is known by his doings; whether his work be pure; and whether it be right。
20:12能听的耳,能看的眼,都是耶和华所造的。
The hearing ear; and the seeing eye; the LORD hath made even both of them。
20:13不要贪睡,免致贫穷。眼要睁开,你就吃饱。
Love not sleep; lest thou e to poverty; open thine eyes; and thou shalt be satisfied with bread。
20:14买物的说,不好,不好。及至买去,他便自夸。
It is naught; it is naught; saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way; then he boasteth。
20:15有金子,和许多珍珠。(或作红宝石)惟有知识的嘴,乃为贵重的珍宝。
There is gold; and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel。
20:16谁为生人作保,就拿谁的衣服。谁为外人作保,谁就要承当。
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman。
20:17以虚谎而得的食物,人觉甘甜。但后来他的口,必充满尘沙。
Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel。
20:18计谋都凭筹算立定。打仗要凭智谋。
Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war。
20:19往来传舌的,泄漏密事。大张嘴的不可与他结交。
He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips。
20:20咒骂父母的,他的灯必灭,变为漆黑的黑暗。
Whoso curseth his father or his mother; his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness。
20:21起初速得的产业,终久却不为福。
An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed。
20:22你不要说,我要以恶报恶。要等候耶和华,他必拯救你。
Say not thou; I will repense evil; but wait on the LORD; and he shall save thee。
20:23两样的法码,为耶和华所憎恶。诡诈的天平,也为不善。
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good。
20:24人的脚步,为耶和华所定。人岂能明白自己的路呢。
Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
20:25人冒失说,这是圣物,许愿之后才查问,就是自陷网罗。
It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy; and after vows to make enquiry。
20:26智慧的王,簸散恶人,用碌碡辊轧他们。
A wise king scattereth the wicked; and bringeth the wheel over them。
20:27人的灵是耶和华的灯,鉴察人的心腹。
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD; searching all the inward parts of the belly。
20:28王因仁慈和诚实,得以保全他的国位,也因仁慈立稳。
Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy。
20:29强壮乃少年的荣耀。白发为老年人的尊荣。
The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head。
20:30鞭伤除净人的罪恶。责打能入人的心腹。
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly。

21:1王的心在耶和华手中,好像陇沟的水,随意流转。
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will。
21:2人所行的,在自己的眼中都看为正,惟有耶和华衡量人心。
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts。
21:3行仁义公平,比献祭更蒙耶和华悦纳。
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice。
21:4恶人发达,眼高心傲,这乃是罪。(发达原文是灯)
An high look; and a proud heart; and the plowing of the wicked; is sin。
21:5殷勤筹画的,足致丰裕。行事急躁的,都必缺乏。
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want。
21:6用诡诈之舌求财的,就是自己取死。所得之财,乃是吹来吹去的浮云。
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death。
21:7恶人的强暴,必将自己扫除。因他们不肯按公平行事。
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment。
21:8负罪之人的路,甚是弯曲。至于清洁的人,他所行的乃是正直。
The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure; his work is right。
21:9宁可住在房顶的角上,不在宽阔的房屋,与争吵的妇人同住。
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop; than with a brawling woman in a wide house。
21:10恶人的心,乐人受祸。他眼并不怜恤邻舍。
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes。
21:11亵慢的人受刑罚,愚蒙的人就得智慧。智慧人受训诲,便得知识。
When the scorner is punished; the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed; he receiveth knowledge。
21:12义人思想恶人的家,知道恶人倾倒,必至灭亡。
The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness。
21:13塞耳不听穷人哀求的,他将来呼吁也不蒙应允。
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor; he also shall cry himself; but shall not be heard。
21:14暗中送的礼物,挽回怒气。怀中搋的贿赂,止息暴怒。
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath。
21:15秉公行义,使义人喜乐,使作孽的人败坏。
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity。
21:16迷离通达道路的,必住在阴魂的会中。
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead。
21:17爱宴乐的,必致穷乏。好酒爱膏油的,必不富足。
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich。
21:18恶人作了义人的赎价。奸诈人代替正直人。
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous; and the transgressor for the upright。
21:19宁可住在旷野,不与争吵使气的妇人同住。
It is better to dwell in the wilderness; than with a contentious and an angry woman。
21:20智慧人家中积蓄宝物膏油。愚昧人随得来随吞下。
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up。
21:21追求公义仁慈的,就寻得生命,公义,和尊荣。
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life; righteousness; and honour。
21:22智慧人爬上勇士的城墙,倾覆他所倚靠的坚垒。
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty; and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof。
21:23谨守口与舌的,就保守自己免受灾难。
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles。
21:24心骄气傲的人,名叫亵慢。他行事狂妄,都出于骄傲。
Proud and haughty scorner is his name; who dealeth in proud wrath。
21:25懒惰人的心愿,将他杀害,因为他手不肯作工。
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour。
21:26有终日贪得无厌的,义人施舍而不吝惜。
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not。
21:27恶人的祭物是可憎的,何况他存恶意来献呢。
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more; when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
