17：23亚希多弗见不依从他的计谋，就备上驴，归回本城。到了家，留下遗言，便吊死了，葬在他父亲的坟墓里。
And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed； he saddled his ass； and arose； and gat him home to his house； to his city； and put his household in order； and hanged himself； and died； and was buried in the sepulchre of his father。
17：24大卫到了玛哈念，押沙龙和跟随他的以色列人也都过了约旦河。
Then David came to Mahanaim。 And Absalom passed over Jordan； he and all the men of Israel with him。
17：25押沙龙立亚玛撒作元帅，代替约押。亚玛撒是以实玛利人（又作以色列人）以特拉的儿子。以特拉曾与拿辖的女儿亚比该亲近。这亚比该与约押的母亲洗鲁雅是姊妹。
And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab： which Amasa was a man's son； whose name was Ithra an Israelite； that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash； sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother。
17：26押沙龙和以色列人都安营在基列地。
So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead。
17：27大卫到了玛哈念，亚扪族的拉巴人拿辖的儿子朔比，罗底巴人亚米利的儿子玛吉，基列的罗基琳人巴西莱，
And it came to pass； when David was e to Mahanaim； that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon； and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar； and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim；
17：28带着被，褥，盆，碗，瓦器，小麦，大麦，麦面，炒谷，豆子，红豆，炒豆，
Brought beds； and basons； and earthen vessels； and wheat； and barley； and flour； and parched corn； and beans； and lentiles； and parched pulse；
17：29蜂蜜，奶油，绵羊，奶饼，供给大卫和跟随他的人吃。他们说，民在旷野，必饥渴困乏了。
And honey； and butter； and sheep； and cheese of kine； for David； and for the people that were with him； to eat： for they said； The people is hungry； and weary； and thirsty； in the wilderness。

18：1大卫数点跟随他的人，立千夫长，百夫长率领他们。
And David numbered the people that were with him； and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them。
18：2大卫打发军兵出战，分为三队，一队在约押手下，一队在洗鲁雅的儿子，约押兄弟亚比筛手下，一队在迦特人以太手下。大卫对军兵说，我必与你们一同出战。
And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab； and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah； Joab's brother； and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite。 And the king said unto the people； I will surely go forth with you myself also。
18：3军兵却说，你不可出战。若是我们逃跑，敌人必不介意。我们阵亡一半，敌人也不介意。因为你一人强似我们万人，你不如在城里预备帮助我们。
But the people answered； Thou shalt not go forth： for if we flee away； they will not care for us； neither if half of us die； will they care for us： but now thou art worth ten thousand of us： therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city。
18：4王向他们说，你们以为怎样好，我就怎样行。于是王站在城门旁，军兵或百或千地挨次出去了。
And the king said unto them； What seemeth you best I will do。 And the king stood by the gate side； and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands。
18：5王嘱咐约押，亚比筛，以太说，你们要为我的缘故宽待那少年人押沙龙。王为押沙龙嘱咐众将的话，兵都听见了。
And the king manded Joab and Abishai and Ittai； saying； Deal gently for my sake with the young man； even with Absalom。 And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom。
18：6兵就出到田野迎着以色列人，在以法莲树林里交战。
So the people went out into the field against Israel： and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim；
18：7以色列人败在大卫的仆人面前。那日阵亡的甚多，共有二万人。
Where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David； and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men。
18：8因为在那里四面打仗，死于树林的比死于刀剑的更多。
For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country： and the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured。
18：9押沙龙偶然遇见大卫的仆人。押沙龙骑着骡子，从大橡树密枝底下经过，他的头发被树枝绕住，就悬挂起来，所骑的骡子便离他去了。
And Absalom met the servants of David。 And Absalom rode upon a mule； and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak； and his head caught hold of the oak； and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth； and the mule that was under him went away。
18：10有个人看见，就告诉约押说，我看见押沙龙挂在橡树上了。
And a certain man saw it； and told Joab； and said； Behold； I saw Absalom hanged in an oak。
18：11约押对报信的人说，你既看见他，为什么不将他打死落在地上呢。你若打死他，我就赏你十舍客勒银子，一条带子。
And Joab said unto the man that told him； And； behold； thou sawest him； and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground？ and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver； and a girdle。
18：12那人对约押说，我就是得你一千舍客勒银子，我也不敢伸手害王的儿子。因为我们听见王嘱咐你和亚比筛并以太说，你们要谨慎，不可害那少年人押沙龙。
And the man said unto Joab； Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand； yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king's son： for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai； saying； Beware that none touch the young man Absalom。
18：13我若妄为害了他的性命，就是你自己也必与我为敌。原来无论何事都瞒不过王。
Otherwise I should have wrought falsehood against mine own life： for there is no matter hid from the king； and thou thyself wouldest have set thyself against me。
18：14约押说，我不能与你留连。约押手拿三杆短枪，趁押沙龙在橡树上还活着，就刺透他的心。
Then said Joab； I may not tarry thus with thee。 And he took three darts in his hand； and thrust them through the heart of Absalom； while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak。
18：15给约押拿兵器的十个少年人围绕押沙龙，将他杀死。
And ten young men that bare Joab's armour passed about and smote Absalom； and slew him。
18：16约押吹角，拦阻众人，他们就回来，不再追赶以色列人。
And Joab blew the trumpet； and the people returned from pursuing after Israel： for Joab held back the people。
18：17他们将押沙龙丢在林中一个大坑里，上头堆起一大堆石头。以色列众人都逃跑，各回各家去了。
And they took Absalom； and cast him into a great pit in the wood； and laid a very great heap of stones upon him： and all Israel fled every one to his tent。
18：18押沙龙活着的时候，在王谷立了一根石柱，因他说，我没有儿子为我留名。他就以自己的名称那石柱叫押沙龙柱，直到今日。
Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar； which is in the king's dale： for he said； I have no son to keep my name in remembrance： and he called the pillar after his own name： and it is called unto this day； Absalom's place。
18：19撒督的儿子亚希玛斯说，容我跑去，将耶和华向仇敌给王报仇的信息报与王知。
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok； Let me now run； and bear the king tidings； how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies。
18：20约押对他说，你今日不可去报信，改日可以报信。因为今日王的儿子死了，所以你不可去报信。
And Joab said unto him； Thou shalt not bear tidings this day； but thou shalt bear tidings another day： but this day thou shalt bear no tidings； because the king's son is dead。
18：21约押对古示人说，你去将你所看见的告诉王。古示人在约押面前下拜，就跑去了。
Then said Joab to Cushi； Go tell the king what thou hast seen。 And Cushi bowed
